Tina Yao

I am a PhD student in the UCL CDT in AI-enabled Healthcare Systems. I am interested in how machine learning can be used in healthcare settings to provide clinical support to doctors.

I am working on automated cardiac MRI segmentation of single ventricle "Fontan" patients in the FORCE registry. Segmentation of the heart is required to assess the patient's cardiac structure, partition the image into meaningful regions and extract quantitative measures. Previously, segmentation models have been successfully created to segment healthy hearts but fail for Fontan patients due to their unusual heart structures.
